Seems To Be Good Stuff - Underwater Digital Camera Review

By Zoey Harris

This tells me that the camera will most likely fail within a couple of years due to water leaking into the seals already. Another point I do not like about this camera is that, every time I turn it on, it asks me to connect it to a pc before I start doing anything. I find it responsive and quick to take pictures that I want, the panoramic utility is awesome, and it comes with a nicely made picture management transfer utility. Online support from Olympus is easy to navigate.

I've owned about 5 point and shoot cameras and 2 SLRs. I think the majority of the bad reviews is caused by the average users basic knowledge of a camera, most people have no idea what half the settings are, or what they mean, so the bad picture quality, is their own fault. I'll be posting some pictures that I took with this camera, so that you can see the quality yourself. Back in 2006 I started carrying one of the original Olympus Tough 7 MP cameras with me in Iraq. But if you are an adventurer who likes to have his/her camera with you everywhere - and I mean EVERYWHERE - and you can "live" with fairly high-res photos taken with a point and shoot, well, this is the camera for you. I would recommend it to anyone. I own an Olympus Stylus 720sw that has been awesome.

Lastly, this camera is SLOW. It takes a surprising amount of time just to click through the settings (for instance, to click down to the flash setting and then click across to change the flash took about 5 seconds EVERY time). So, take your habits with normal photography and double them if you plan on taking this camera below the surface: stay still, don't zoom in low light, and use the flash sparingly, especially in coastal/cloudy water. Learned as we went and read the directions. After the third snorkeling session (camera no deeper than arm's length below the surface) and probably no more than 90 minutes in the water, the Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 camera died. Screen just flashes on and off.

It is very easy and has worked every time for me. There is a beauty mode, several underwater mode, pets mode, etc. We used it on our trip to Puerto Rico and it was great. The underwater shots and video were great.

I did take about 200 shots that were of a comparable quality to the 720, I have not really checked out closely from the memory card. The 1st time I took it in snorkeling at surface level, I got 1 picture and the controls/screen went haywire.

It is fast and it is waterproof! This is a great camera that fully lives up to product specifications and expectations. I didn't do this and was not actually aware of that. It seems a bit high maintenance.

The LED is amazing. These modes would be great for engagement rings, baby feet and fingers, and pretty much everything.
