Dark Fiction Has More Than Just Horror

By Rosemary Morris

Dark fiction is an interesting genre of writing that mainly has horror. It is a type of writing, which has components of confusion and excitement. In any given story there has to be an element of horror, fear and uncertainty. If these elements are missing, it can't be termed as such a scary book. Every author or writer has their special style of writing. No matter what their approach is, they must follow the guidelines.

The term dark is mostly associated with something, that is horrifying, surprising and ambiguous. In these types of books, stories have a varied ending. In the past, writers were only restricted to including horror, but it has changed with time.

The authors have introduced several kinds of transformations. The idea is to cross the barriers of an ordinary dark fiction writing style. This and dark fantasy have the same meaning. They can be used in place of each other.

These stories have tales that are interesting, fearful and thrilling. Nowadays, both famous and fresh authors have begun experimenting. Most of these types of stories begin with the narration of the main character or the lead hero. They have transformed the field of this literature.

The main motive of bringing such a change is to attract more readers and keep them engaged. Before writing, the authors do a proper research about their topic. The more interested readers are the more demand for such books rises.

Most of the tales in a dark fiction are same, but their ending varies. The end could be happy, serious, or thoughtful. It totally depends upon the reader what story type they wish to read. If suspense and horror is their type, they can pick any of these types of books.
