Toronto Video Production - Using Background Music For Corporate Videos

The impact of corporate videos and its message are often enhanced by background music. There is a lot to be gained when background music is used properly within the context of corporate videos.

"Most videos do have background music in them," says Brian Korson of Video Excellence Productions, a video production company whose operations are based in Toronto. It does not necessarily mean, however, that all corporate videos need to have music. Having background music for corporate videos depend on the audience who will be watching your video and whether or not music will make your corporate videos better.

Corporate videos can use melodies, tunes and mainstream songs as background music. However, there are policies that regulate and limit the use of music downloaded from the Internet or copied from audio CDs for public purposes. To avoid copyright issues, video production companies should know how and when to use music in corporate videos.

Generally, corporate videos that will be used and viewed strictly within the confines of the company can use background music from the Internet or CDs. "However, if it's going to be seen by the general public or it's going to go on network television then it's against the law," says Brian.

As a rule, those who wish to use a copyrighted music need to pay royalty fees to its production labels. Without it, the use of the said music is considered piracy.

Unfortunately, small businesses in Toronto do not have the budget for this kind of expenses. To make things easier, music for video production purposes can be "rented" from sites which specifically rent out music.

Registered users of music rental sites need to pay a minimum fee. In return, video production companies can access and use a certain track, music or score for corporate videos. As a result, corporate videos can be released even to external clients without legal complications.

Background music is just one way to make corporate videos stand out. Its presence helps a corporate video do what it is supposed to do - provide information to the audience in the most creative way possible.
