A Quick Look At How You Can Make Your Own Video Productions Successful

By Mary Elizabeth Nicholson

Making video productions is never easy more so long and complex ones. The following tips can be very helpful when making a video production. No matter the budget or size of the production, the following tips can come in handy.

Have a plan. Just like most things in life, without a good plan, you will not have success. Make sure that you factor in the budget as you make your plans. Plan for the number of crew you will need and what the role of each member is going to be. Also, plan for the shoot date and shoot venue. Other things you must also plan for are the duration of rehearsal and the subject mater of your production. You also must factor in how long your video is going to be.

Always make your shorting simple and as short as you possibly can. Long and complex productions tend to be boring. You do not want this if your intention is to educate and entertain the audience. If your production is educational and of complex material, try your best to simplify it. Also, if it is long, make several segments of the long production. This will kill the boredom as the audience will be looking forward to the next part.

Have your equipment ready and in good condition. You must ensure that all the equipment is functioning at least one day before the day of the shoot. If the equipment is faulty, you will waste a lot of time because every time you will be stopping to check the equipment out. These will kill the flow and psych of crew members. Remember, it wont matter how expensive or cheap the equipment is, just be sure that it is functional and you can actually use it without distractions.

Do not get too exited about perfection, understand that a few mistakes here and there are permissible. If you become too strict, your crew members will be uncomfortable and are bound to make more mistakes. The point here is to be moderate; again you can't allow every mistake to go uncorrected. Have your rehearsals run for some time, make sure that you are comfortable with the performance of your crew. Rehearse until you have ironed out all mistakes and you can take the production from beginning to end.

Be sure that on the material day of shooting the video, all members are ready for it. Having breaks in between will keep everybody fresh and remove tension. Have at least ten minutes breaks in between the shoot. Make sure that everybody is comfortable, the more comfortable team members are, the better they will work.

Post production is one of the hardest parts when making a production. Basically, you will be piecing together the best shoots that will make up the final production. Making short notes during the shoot is important. Since you will be noting down important parts in the short you will be better placed when doing your editing.

If your editor is good you'll come up with a very good production. Remember, the idea is to have your audience enjoy your production at the same time learn from it. Have this in mind as you make your video productions.
