One of the Best Canon Camcorders

By Dave Lashier

We all own a camcorder or video camera, right? It would be a safe bet to state that just about every American family owns atleast one, and chances are it may be a Canon video camera! Camcorder Reviews are easy to write when reviewing such a fantastic video camera as this! The Canon brand is well-known in the industry and is highly used by professionals and amateurs alike. The HFS100 delivers brilliant video and still shots through a 8.59-megapixel CMOS image sensor, and the latest version of Canon's advance image processor, DIGIC DV III. The HFS100 is both lightweight and compact in size, and offers the convenience and ease of using a Flash Memory.

Having tested this fine camcorder we found it very easy to use and liked the way it felt in our hands. One associate loved this camera so much they went purchased one for themselves! So, what are the greatest features of this mini-sized giant in the camcorder industry. First off, it is a professional camera lens with the best HD video quality, and gets amazing still shots as well. The HFS100 can use up to 32GB of SDHC flash memory, which is instant. This means you don't have to wait for tapes to be rewound. The flash memory allows for a small camera size, and protects data from being lost if the camera is dropped.

All camcorders seem to have very similar features; mostly because they perform the same function - capturing life on "film". But, the features need to be easy to understand and easy to use for a camcorder to be successful in the marketplace! A few more great quality features are: the still picture quality is of the highest quality for a camcorder. It offers an auto open/close lens cover, has extremely user friendly menus, and offers the most professional quality video and still shots, from the most versatile device on the market. Now we are talking! Maybe this will be the camcorder we take on our next family vacation. Lets look further into this camcorder.

Great stuff, right? But what are the negatives of this video camera? Surely there must be things that consumers are not happy with. Of course no product is perfect, so where does the HFS100 lose a few points? - First off, it doesn't come with an HDMI cable. It also does not come with a battery charger, so you either have to purchase one, or recharge the battery using the actual camcorder. There is no internal memory, and it only comes with the BP-809 battery, which lasts very a very short period of time. To get better battery life users can upgrade to the BP-827 battery, but are going to have to dish out an additional $150 to get the battery life they are looking for. Now that is somewhat of a disappointment but we can live with it if necessary. This video camera is definitely worth a look despite these slight issues we think.

Well, this Canon camcorder is worth a serious look! It is a professional quality machine, getting the best picture quality, a great quality HD style video, and a compact size which cannot be beat. If the brand name associated with perfection, Canon, is not enough of a sales point, the multiple product features, and great quality of both still pictures and the HD recording capabilities should do the trick. For a versatile camcorder, with the highest quality video and image taking capabilities, at an average market price (with compatible camcorders), the Canon HFS100 is a great camera for amateurs or professionals alike. And trust me when I say this, we are all amateurs when it comes to video filming and photography! Just ask my wife.
