Practice Frequently

Repeated practice is of utmost significance. Regular piano practice can become tough work above all for young children, this may repeatedly result to a loss in interest when older. For the adult student however the inspiration is different and having a want to learn the piano will keep most individuals going and make practice less unexciting. Regular practice fortifies your fingers but also helps to improve the communication between the brain and the fingers making your fingers easier to control. It will get to the point after a period of regular practice that you will be ready to play without always contemplating what you are doing, this indicates that you are on the way to perfection. You will find it much tougher to play after you've had a couple of days off from practicing.

Make Realistic Goals For Yourself

When you're learning to play the piano, particularly if you're learning on your own with a home study course then you have to set yourself some quite rigid goals as a method to truly advance. You'll be far better off making both long and short term goals. A good goal for the shorter term could be to master a certain piece or perhaps just a progression of chords. Practice it over and over everyday until you are satisfied that you have learned it. You may set one of your long-term goals as reaching a particular level of playing for instance or to get to a level where you could accompany another musician. It is more often than not sufficient determination to have your targets and the setting of due dates and time limits is not usually needed.

Don't Be Concerned About Making Errors

It can be so straightforward to get over anxious about your mistakes and errors when you're performing or practicing but remember that it doesn't matter what mistakes you will make. It is way more useful to give a fluent performance with a couple of mistakes than a technically perfect yet cold and dry performance. Its not important to stop when you make a screw up just carry on playing. You've got to keep in mind where the screw ups and errors occur so you can monitor if you are making the same mistake time and time again, in that case you may practice that section thoroughly until you have it perfected. Don't pay much attention to your mistakes and errors and they'll either vanish with time or they are going to become so apparent that you'll be forced to do something about them. The ideas outlined here ought to make it easier and less complicated for you to practice and advance your playing.
