When I was a young child I would love nothing more than to sit in front of the television for hours. I would have watched even more if I was allowed to because it was something I couldn't get enough of. I could not imagine a world without the box, and if people told me that they never watched television I would have assumed that they were very odd indeed.
Now thirty years later and my life has taken a strange twist. These days I don't even own a television.
I have to explain this because I wouldn't want you to get the wrong idea. I haven't joined some strange back to nature cult, and I haven't taken up more intellectual pursuits. I still probably watch as many TV shows as ever, maybe even more than ever, but I no longer watch them on the television.
The rise of internet television has completely hooked me and now I watch everything this way. What I really love about internet TV is the fact that I can watch my favourite shows where I like, when I like. It is even possible for me to catch up with my favourite shows in the morning while travelling to work. To tell you the truth, I have even watched TV while I am sitting at my desk in work.
Some people think that watching TV shows on the computer is not as enjoyable as watching them on a television but I don't agree with this. I have a nice large LCD monitor on my computer and the picture is crystal clear. I also get great audio because of the sound system I have with the computer.
Of course the quality is not so good when I'm on the move and using my laptop, but it is not like I'd be able to take my television around with me everywhere. You wont' see me investing in a TV set any time soon because the computer is perfect.
