Outstanding Item And Worth It - Purple Digital Camera Critique

By John Jenkins

I'm still playing with it and learning all the options but I highly recommend the camera. It does all that it says it does; it is compact and burly. Unfortunately it does not allow adding a date stamp directly on the jpeg image files. Not good.

The memory card that was supposed to fit in the camera didn't slide down all the way. In all, I would not suggest this camera to anyone who enjoys sending in their camera often, and enjoys not knowing which setting to use.

The third setting is holding the button down and it will continuous shoot photos. Most of the pictures come blurry and the color of the pictures is greyish. The flash is very poor. This product seems to predictably have issues so I replaced it with another manufacture. Don't buy the Olympus Stylus Tough, your throwing good money away.

I took 30 pictures at my 3 year olds birthday party (at a water park) and I had to edit every single one when I downloaded them to my computer. Colors were washed out by the aggressive flash on any close-up pictures. Phone is now dead as disco and the return labels have already been printed. That's too bad too, because I was very happy with the quality of the pictures and really liked the thought of shooting pictures under water. Then he showed us that he could step on it, and drop it from a certain height, and it would remain in good condition. The thing that really got me interested was that it was waterproof. I've used it in all the extreme conditions that it was meant to be used in. I've gotten many compliments on my pictures and videos and overall I really do love the camera.

With much research and review reading, we decided to get this camera. Over the past month it has performed just as good, if not better than our old one.

My surprise was that, when taking outdoor pictures, the image quality is excellent. The wide angle allows you to take great scenic photos. BTW, I'm a pro (over 40 years advertising, catalog and editorial) so a good test for me of a point and shoot is just that--point and shoot! Spend a few minutes fresh out of the box with the camera, running through menu selections and settings, and just use the camera simply and easily. Customer service has been less than helpful and I still haven't received a new camera over two months later. The 14MP produces sharp images, auto focus finds the right subject, waterproof (used it in fresh & salt water), movies work great (very minimal wind noise).
