A Great Item, So Fantastic - Polaroid Digital Camera Critique

By Sophia Walker

Shop around and you can get great prices! Took this camera on a trip to the Caribbean and was very happy with product until last day of trip when it stopped working on us after being in only 3 feet of water-seriously this is supposed to.

When we tried to troubleshoot, it referred us to an owner's manual. Again, it did not come with any printed owner's manual OR software although the internal manual also referenced included software. So far we love that camera. Better build quality, better picture quality, and better user interface.

The camera was constantly covered in dew, rained on, and had a 35 pound backpack lying on top of it. Despite all of that, it worked flawlessly. I really like the Olympus tough series, but am hesitant to try another camera of this model. Any thoughts on this or recommend a different model or brand" This camera has proved waterproof in the ocean, freeze proof on a glacier-filled mountain, just wish it was sand/dustproof for the beach. I would recommend this camera to any of my friends who want a durable, small, outdoorsy camera. So glad I bought it for her and based on what she says, I rate it highly and I'm glad I bought it for her! This camera is great! Select the option that allows you to talk to a person! The tech support number [hard to find on the website] is 888-553-4448. Thanks so much, Sandi Shields Eighteen months ago I bought an Olympus tough. The flash is terrible, 5 feet, no more. I rated the durability at a 4 because after reading the review from the gentleman who left the camera on his golf cart, I was careful not to expose the screen to any sharp objects, but the screen was still scratched within the first week. This camera definitely needs a carrying case or maybe buy one of those cling-on screen covers used for cell phones.

So far I like it but as I read before in the reviews the zoom is definitely choppy which I am disappointed in. I took it kayaking and it took some beautiful pictures.

I like the artistic modes too, although I have not had much excuse to use them at work. I also use it in dark areas (think dusk to twilight) to focus on objects 20 feet away. We did buy a Squaretrade warranty, I'd suggest doing that if you buy one, it's cheap and will protect you for I believe 2 years. We had another Water proof camera but it failed after a year and a half. Well - it worked fine at the beach the first day - in the surf and on the sand - the second day we took it snorkeling - in less than 2 feet of water flashed a message saying "Lost Connection" - it then gave up completely. We did everything correctly, charged and loaded the battery at home - no sand, dust or obstruction to the waterproofing.

I wanted a waterproof camera I could take while fly fishing and not worry about it getting rained on or soaked if I fell in the river. The environment this camera withstood is a testament to how good a product it is; it rained nearly every day, the temp varied each day from low 40s to mid 60s F.
