Gossip Cam's magician boyfriend is married

Turns out Cameron Diaz's new guy, magician Criss Angel, is married. Angel's "secret" Long Island wife, Joanne Sarantakos, claims their marriage broke down as soon as he got famous and hooked up with the Shrek star. A lawyer for Sarantakos says he intends to subpoena Diaz to testify in state Supreme Court about her romance with the Vegas magician in support of his client's divorce petition on the grounds of mental cruelty and abandonment. Angel - whose real name is Chris Sarantakos - reportedly kept his five-year marriage (and 15-year relationship) a secret to raise his sex appeal to female fans. "We're naming Cameron Diaz as his lover," Sarantakos's lawyer told the court yesterday, adding that he'd had Angel followed by a private investigator for six months. "We will subpoena her as soon as she comes back to New York." He also revealed that Angel hasn't given his wife a penny of the $7 million he made last year. "He's not paying her support, which is tragic - considering his worth." Angel himself was in court, and his lawyer did not deny the allegations of adultery. The magician flashed a peace sign, but did not make any comments. According to the Mindfreak star's in-laws, "When his career took a jump forward, he became a different person. He's in love with himself. He's a narcissist. My daughter was never acknowledged as his wife. He told her it was a better single image, than a married image." Sarantakos's brother agreed, saying, "It's almost as if he played the Mindfreak game on her. He was controlling her. He's basically living in a TV persona. Chris Sarantakos is dead - Criss Angel has taken over. He killed off his old self and morphed into his new self - it's scary, really." This guy seemed like a loser from the start. Gossip Lily Allen arrested for assault

British singer Lily Allen was arrested in London yesterday on charges of punching a paparazzo. The incident allegedly happened in March, when Allen is accused of punching the photographer as she left a London nightclub with her boyfriend. "At approximately 1:30 a.m. on the 13th March a woman allegedly punched a male photographer in his 40s, near the Wardour Club, W1," a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said. "He suffered a cut to the nose, but didn't require any hospital treatment. Officers attended but the woman had left." Allen turned herself into the police yesterday, where she was photographed and had her fingerprints and a DNA sample taken. "At approximately 9:30 a.m. on the 28th June, a 21-year-old woman attended at London police station by appointment and was arrested in connection with the allegation of assault," said the police rep. "She has been bailed to return in late July."

Gossip Paris gave interview the day she was released

I know we're all insanely sick of Paris Hilton, but it's a pretty slow news day so far... The recently-freed jailbird spoke to People mag yesterday at her grandfather's Bel Air mansion just hours after her release. "Thank God I'm free!" she said. "Just being able to hug my mom felt so great, and I really needed it cause I haven't had a hug in a long time." The heiress gave a candid interview about her stay in prison:

Of her first sleepless nights in jail: "I was basically in the fetal position, basically in hysterics."

Of fellow inmates: "All of the inmates were very supportive. There were girls next to me. We could talk through the vents and they were just really sweet."

On her medical condition: "The doctors were observing me while I was there. They explained to Sheriff Baca that they thought I was having severe anxiety, panic attacks, claustrophobia."

On people who doubt she will change after her experience: "They're wrong and they don't know me. I'm a compassionate person. I have a big heart. I'm sincere, and they'll see."

Gossip Tom Cruise banned from filming in Germany

Germany has barred Tom Cruise and the producers of Valkyrie, a movie about a plot to kill Adolf Hitler from filming scenes at German military sites because of Cruise's beliefs in Scientology. The German government does not recognize the Church of Scientology as a church, claiming it masquerades as a religion to make money. Cruise is set to play real life colonel Claus con Stauffenberg, who led an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Hitler with a bomb in his briefcase in July, 1944. A spokesperson for Germany's Ministry of Defense said the producers "will not be allowed to film at German military sites if Count Stauffenberg is played by Tom Cruise, who has publicly professed to being a member of the Scientology cult... In general, the [German military] has a special interest in the serious and authentic portrayal of the events of July 20, 1944 and Stauffenberg's person."

Gossip Paris released from jail

Look out, neighbors - Paris Hilton has been released from jail. Hilton walked out of prison shortly after midnight this morning, escorted by deputies and waving to a large crowd of photographers and fans. Met by her parents, Hilton said, "Mom!" as she hugged Kathy Hilton in a waiting Cadillac Escalade. Check out the live footage below. The heiress first reported for jail on June 3 after being sentenced to 45 days on May 4 for driving with a suspended license, but her sentence was reduced as a result of good behavior. After a few days, Hilton was reassigned to house arrest but ordered back to jail after one day. After a visit this weekend with her daughter, Kathy Hilton told reporters, "I think she's very, very excited to see the family." Hilton will make her give her first official interview tomorrow night on Larry King Live.

Gossip Posh wins in suit against Star mag

Victoria Beckham won an undislosed amount in damages from Star mag after the tabloid claimed that the crew of her upcoming reality show called her "picky, demanding and rude" and "full of herself and not very nice." Beckham's lawyer told a court in Britain that the comments were published before filming on the former Spice Girl's show had even started. "The story was therefore completely inaccurate and defamatory of Ms. Beckham," he contended. Gossip Cameron apologizes for fashion accident

Cameron Diaz issued an apology yesterday for a political fashion faux pas. The Shrek star toured Peru's Machu Picchu last week wearing a green bag with a red star and the words "Serve the People" in Chinese. The phrase was a slogan of Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong, and sparked controversy in Peru - where citizens are recovering from the Maoist Shining Path insurgency in the '80s and '90s that killed nearly 70,000. "It alludes to a concept that did so much damage to Peru, that brought about so many victims," a Peruvian human rights rep told the Associated Press. "I don't think she should have used that bag where the followers of that ideology did so much damage." Diaz issued a statement yesterday apologizing: "The bag was a purchase I made as a tourist in China and I did not realize the potentially hurtful nature of the slogan printed on it... I'm sorry for any people's pain and suffering and it was certainly never my intention to reopen what I now know is a painful wound in this country's history." The actress was in Peru as part of a Canadian TV show called 4 REAL, which celebrates youth leaders around the world.

Gossip Paris to chat with Larry King on Wednesday

After NBC's Today show cancelled their planned post-prison interview with Paris Hilton amid rumors they were going to pay the socialite $1 million, Hilton announced that she will instead sit down with Larry King. Hilton will appear in studio for a full hour, and released a statement reading: "I am thrilled that Larry King has asked me to appear on his program to discuss my experience in jail, what I have learned, how I have grown and anything else he wants to talk about. Larry King is not only a world-renown journalist, but a true American icon. It will be an honor to do his show." (Sounds like King himself wrote it, doesn't it?) Meanwhile, more details from the socialite's prison phone conversation with Ryan Seacrest for E! News have been released. Hilton told the Idol host of her plans to build a "transitional home" to help women just released from jail. "These women just keep coming back because they have no place to go," she says, adding that the home will be "a place to get food and clothes on their backs."
