A friend of Lindsay Lohan says the star is settling nicely into rehab, a day after her father told E! Online that the starlet is hooked to booze and the prescription painkiller OxyContin. "She's happy where she is and is just taking time to herself to learn and be okay," said the friend. "I've been in touch with her and she likes it... She's so much in the public eye 24 hours a day that she's gotten so caught up. I think she surrounds herself with good people generally, but all the pressure that she's around has created this alternate universe in a way and it's hard for her to stay grounded... She just needs to be away from everyone and not get attacked by the paparazzi. She's doing really, really well," he added. "She probably should be there and it will be the best for her. I think she's ready for it." As for her next movie project, Poor Things, which was scheduled to begin filming today in LA - both producers and co-star Shirley MacLaine are willing to wait. "In the spirit of helping Lindsay Lohan and her rehabilitation, we have been asked by Lindsay to comply with her wishes to continue working on Poor Things," MacLaine and a producer said in a statement released today. "We are trying to arrange the shooting schedule to facilitate her working at the end of the shoot to coincide with the completion of her rehabilitation. We wish her love and the blending of mind, body and spirit."

In addition to their high-end (and uber expensive) fashion line The Row, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have something else up their fashionable sleeves. The tiny twins announced today that they are working on a more affordable contemporary sportswear line called Elizabeth and James, named for the other Olsen siblings. "We wanted it to be based on a relationship between a young girl and a boy and tell the story through the clothing," Mary-Kate Olsen told Women's Wear Daily. Influenced by her own vintage collection, the line was designed in collaboration with the designers of Seven For All Mankind and LaRok, and reportedly includes shiny slip dresses, hot pants, and a super skinny pinstriped menswear vest.

During an appearance to promote her new gig as host of Canada's version of Project Runway earlier this week, supermodel Iman weighed in on the self-destructive path of young Hollywood. "I have to say, I did my fair share of Studio 54 in my day," the makeup guru said. "But by the grace of God, I have always known when to leave the party. They are very young, these girls...they treat rehab like it's a spa, they go in and out, but at the end of the day I keep asking myself the same question over and over: 'Where are the adults for these kids?'" Iman heeds her own advice and tries to only take on projects that keep her close to her children and husband David Bowie. "So when they approached me to do Project Runway Canada, a couple of things aligned themselves perfectly," Mrs. Bowie said. "First of all, it's in June so school is out so the little one is going to come with me. And it's in Toronto, so it's not that far from New York and I'm able to go back and forth easily." The show, which will air this fall, will see twelve Canadian designers compete for $100,000 to start their own fashion line, as well as the chance to show their work at a premiere fashion event. "It's a really good opportunity to be on a show that's in a genre that's not salacious - I'm not keen on salacious television," Iman says. "I really do like the format of Project Runway USA because it really is about finding talent and nurturing talent. There's no meanness. The critiques are constructive and the judges are designers and really know what they're talking about."

Lindsay Lohan's rep has released an official statement regarding the Georgia Rule star's admittance to Promises in Malibu. "Lindsay admitted herself to an intensive medical rehabilitation facility on Memorial Day," her publicist said in a statement. "Because this is a medical matter, it is our hope that the press will appreciate the seriousness of the situation and respect the privacy of Lindsay as well as the other patients receiving treatment at the facility."

Reps for Cameron Diaz and Jessica Biel are reportedly working hard to prevent the two Justin Timberlake amours from bumping into each other at the MTV Movie Awards on June 3. "Everyone is determined to keep Cam and Jess apart," says an insider. "It's becoming a big deal because both girls want very separate arrival times. Nobody knows who Cameron is going to bring, if anyone. But if Jessica walks with Justin, Cameron will want to bring a date. If Jessica goes alone, Cam will probably walk alone. It's a mess." Diaz allegedly "blew up" at Biel at a Golden Globes afterparty in January when she spotted the Illusionist actress flirting with her recent ex, and the MTV awards this Sunday marks the first time the three will be in the same room since the incident. "Cam is used to being more high-profile than Jessica," says the insider. "But now that Jessica's dating Justin, she has more leverage. Cameron's looking a little unstable lately." Rosie O'Donnell posted a video message on her blog over the weekend in the wake of her leaving The View. The comedian and children's advocate says she will likely never speak to ex-co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck again after their on-air battle last week. "I haven't spoken to her, and I probably won't, and I think it's just as well," O'Donnell says. "I wrote her an email, and she wrote me back, and there you have it." On this morning's View Elisabeth made a point of saying she and Rosie had been in touch, and seemed to think the two would eventually be friends again...guess she hasn't checked out rosie.com. "I was really just like a foster kid for a year," O'Donnell said of her View stint. "I came, you know, we considered adoption, but I didn't really fit into the family and now it's time for the foster kid to go back home." O'Donnell also admitted it her head writer drew a mustache on a photo of Hasselbeck in the studio, saying, "I was a joke on the way out."

Though a poster has been released advertising Lindsay Lohan's 21st birthday blowout party in Vegas, the Georgia Rule actress is reportedly on her way back to rehab, according to In Touch mag. "She finally realizes it's the right thing to do," a close friend of the star says. "She is going willingly." Lohan was allegedly due to check into Promises in Malibu on Monday afternoon, following a night of partying at a 944 Magazine event Sunday night at Teddy's - where she reportedly insisted she didn't care about the consequences of her DUI arrest earlier this weekend. According to the mag, the actress was photographed "seeming to be out of it in the front passenger seat of a car being driven by her friend, disc jockey Samantha Ronson."

Dlist comedian Kathy Griffin told an audience during a stand-up show on Saturday night that the final straw prompting her friend Rosie O'Donnell to leave The View was the split-screen used by ABC during her argument with Elisabeth Hasselbeck earlier this week. "I don't even know where to start," Griffin told the crowd at a show in New Jersey. "I tell you who I got a call from [on Friday]. 'Hey, Kath. It's Ro. What are you doing? Wanna hang out?' I spent the whole day with Rosie! How about that?!" The pair caught Cyndi Lauper's rehearsal for her upcoming tour, followed by dinner in Manhattan with the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun singer. Griffin and O'Donnell discussed the split-screen, and Griffin said of their conversation: "And that's what it was. I said, 'What was really it?' And she said, 'The split screen.' She said, 'I don't want to do Hannity and Colmes.'" Griffin has appeared as guest host on the show many times, and said of her friend, "I think she's a pistol, and she's outspoken and fun and says outrageous things. Lindsay Lohan was arrested and charged with DUI early on Saturday morning after her Mercedes struck a curb and shrub on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. Police responded to a 911 call at 5:30 a.m., but when they arrived on scene, Lohan and the two passengers in her car were gone. The Georgia Rule actress was located at Century City Hospital, where she was treated for minor upper chest injuries. At a press conference held yesterday, a rep for the Beverly Hills police department said, "A usable amount of an illegal narcotic tentatively identified as cocaine was recovered and booked... ABC has announced that Rosie O'Donnell will not be back on The View. "We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave. Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to The View and wish her well," said the president of ABC Daytime in a statement. Rosie herself said of her decision, "I'm extremely grateful. It's been an amazing year and I love all three women." Show head honcho Barbara Walters has also weighed in, saying, "I brought Rosie to the show. Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at The View. I am most appreciative. You can say one thing for Rosie O'Donnell - her staffers are loyal. In the wake of the View moderator's on-air brawl with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck earlier this week, an O'Donnell staffer was reportedly escorted out of the ABC building yesterday after being caught drawing mustaches of pictures of Hasselbeck that hang in the show's studios. A rep for the network confirmed in a statement that "photographs at The View's offices were defaced. Rosie O'Donnell was not in the building. ABC Legal and Human Resources are investigating the matter." No comment has been made about who the culprit might be, but media reports indicate that O'Donnell's head writer is responsible.

Mary-Kate Olsen is making a television comeback with a role on the Showtime hit Weeds. The Full House alum will play appear in ten episodes next season as Tara, a devoted Christian girl who becomes a love interest for Mary-Louise Parker character Nancy Botwin's son on the show. "I'm thrilled to be a part of the show," Olsen says. "It's really an honor to be a part of such a talented group of actors and writers." Matthew Modine is also set to join the show next year. "Weeds isn't your 8 o'clock family fare," says the series creator. "It's an adult show with adult subject matter, and we're confident Mary-Kate is right for the role. She came in and read with Hunter and was absolutely charming and real and seemed like a great fit. Audiences have seen only one side of Mary-Kate, but here we'll see her in a whole new light."

Keira Knightley won a libel case against British newspaper the Daily Mail yesterday. The tabloid ran a story of the Pirates of the Caribbean star in a bikini with the heading, "If Pictures Like This One of Keira Carried a Health Warning, My Darling Daughter Might Have Lived." Knightley's lawyer said his client had been embarrassed by the "entirely false" and "deeply offensive" suggestion that she was in any way responsible for the tragic death of a 19-year-old anorexic, as the headline implied. "The claimant is not a fitness fanatic, as she considers it more important and has spoken of her opinion of the need to be healthy and happy," said Knightley's lawyer. "The claimant found the suggestions all the more offensive as she has freely admitted publicly in the past that a member of her family suffered from anorexia and she is well aware of the devastating effects eating disorders can have." Knightley was awarded close to $6,000 in damages and plans to match the award with an equal amount and donate the money to a charity that helps people with eating and mental disorders.

Reports may be circulating that Nicole Richie is back in rehab, but her rep insists the Simple Life star is doing fine at home. The National Enquirer and Star mag claim Richie is getting outpatient treatment for anorexia and substance abuse from the Beau Monde Treatment Center in Corona Del Mar, and are running pictures of the skinny star entering the facility on May 19. "We figured Nicole's publicist would try to deny this," says a source. "We have excellent sources, though." According to the tabs, Richie checked into rehab on May 11. "And yes, she's at home now," says the source. "As we wrote the story, she's now getting outpatient treatment." Richie's rep tells TMZ that the star is "in Glendale at her house," that she did go back to see her therapist, that her recovery is "an ongoing process" but that she's "completely sober."

Katie Holmes is fuming after learning that a fashion student with plans of becoming a porn star has changed her name to Katee Holmes. "It's a really cheap shot," says a rep for the actress. A manager for the future porn star, who will be launching her career by losing her virginity on film, says, "Katee is using the name as a tribute to Katie, who has always portrayed an innocence in everything she's done, beginning with Dawson's Creek." The real Holmes's management team is reportedly weighing the actress's legal options. "It's really kind of sleazy, using her name like that," says a friend of the star. Jessica Alba says that despite her sexpot image, she's just a silly girl at heart. "People think of me as just a sexy girl," the Fantastic Four actress tells InStyle mag, "but I'm really goofy - like, super goofy... I had womanly curves at a young age. Usually kid actors are a few years older than the roles they play. I was two or three years younger," she says of her Dark Angel role. Alba also admits to a bit of a rebellious streak: "I love challenging authority. It probably wasn't easy being my parents. The second somebody says no to me is the second I'm going to jump up and say yes." Of the possibility of starting a family, the actress says, "I'm not the easiest person to hang with. I'm away a lot, and it's an unconventional life. But if I could find a partner, that would be best. I probably won't have kids without one... French actress Audrey Tautou will play Coco Chanel in an upcoming biopic about the designer. The $15 million film was conceived with Tautou in mind. "[The producer] said she would only make a film about Chanel is Audrey was the lead," says an insider. "They met and both liked the idea." The script, will focuses on the legendary designer's childhood and early adult years, was adapted from the Chanel biography L'Irreguliere, and production is slated to begin early next year. "It isn't really a biopic because it is about Chanel before she became famous - it is about the events and people that shaped her," said the insider. Chanel was born into poverty and learned to sew in a Catholic orphanage after her mother died and she was abandoned by her father. As a young woman, Chanel had dreams of becoming a singer and first acquired the nickname Coco while singing "Who's Seen Coco in the Trocadero" in a cabaret.

Ryan Phillippe filed a legal response earlier this week to estranged wife Reese Witherspoon's divorce claim. In documents submitted on Tuesday, Phillippe is seeking joint custody of the former couple's two children, and cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. The Flags of Our Fathers actor is not asking for spousal support and asks that child visitation be "equally allocated." Witherspoon filed for divorce last November.

Looks like Backstreet Boy Nick Carter is trying to make over his image - with a United Nations gig. Carter will be helping raise awareness of threats to the survival of dolphins in the wild for the U.N. Environment Programme, the Convention on Migratory Species, and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society. "People like Bono, Angelina Jolie, and Nicole Kidman have inspired me to put my celebrity to good use," Carter says. "I have the advantage of reaching multiple generations to make a difference... I am really excited, but also a little nervous about this much responsibility...it is an actual job.
